Rodney Paul Abbott, a three-year resident of Yucca Valley, died of natural causes March 12, 2019, at the Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree. He was 72 years old.
The son of Clinton and Audrea Abbott, he was born July 15, 1946, in Blytheville, Arkansas.
Mr. Abbott served in the U.S. Army.
He worked as a lineman for GTE and Verizon for 43 years until his retirement.
Mr. Abbott lived in California for 62 years, mostly in Ontario.
He was a ham radio and a member of the Search and Rescue of Ontario.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Doris Bunch, of Bay City, Texas, and Shirley Hughes, of Blytheville, Arkansas.
He is survived by his brothers, Bud Clinton Abbott and his family, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Alan Abbott and family, of Yucca Valley; his wife, Oma Joyce Hall, of Yucca Valley; and his stepson, Tony W. Hall, of Forest, Indiana.
A date for his celebration of life is still to be established.
