OWATONNA — In conjunction with Steele County Emergency Management, the Owatonna Steele County Amateur Radio Club (OSCAR) is offering a free Ham Radio license class that is open to the public.
The class will run Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. from Feb. 20 through March 15 at the Owatonna Fire Station on Main Street and Cedar Avenue. Along with learning about the many facets of ham radio, including its use for emergency communications, volunteer instructors will prepare students to pass the No Code Technician Class license examination. Class instruction is free, and the cost for the study guide is $30. Visit oscarmn.org and click on “2018 Technician Class” under “General Announcements” for the latest details.
Students will be able to take the license exam on March 15. The exam session is open to anyone wishing to take one or more exams. All levels of Amateur Radio license examinations will be available at the exam session. The exam fee is $15.
